Palm Harbor wins the prestigious 2001 Quality Housing Award
For the first time ever, a manufactured home builder has been named a National Housing Quality (NHQ) Award winner by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the NAHB Research Center, and Professional Builder magazine.
Palm Harbor Homes, Florida Division, received the Gold Award for Quality Achievement in Pasadena, California, during Benchmark, the premier management conference for top home builders in the nation. No other home builder had ever receivedor been nominatedfor this honor.
The national Housing Quality Award recognizes companies for quality and customer satisfaction. Patterned after the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award given by the U.S. Department of Commerce, the NHQ Award is designed to promote awareness of customer-focused quality as an increasingly vital segment of competitiveness and productivity for builders.
Entries are judged by a panel of experts who evaluate the role that customer-focused quality plays in construction, business management, sales, design and warranty service.
Judging includes on-site visits and personal contact with company customers, references and additional information resources.
"Winners of the NHQ Award must direct all aspects of their operation toward the goal of customer satisfaction," said Liza Bowles, president of the NAHB Research Center. "The company must develop a culture of customer-focused excellence that involves all employees in eliminating problems and establishing procedures for continuously improving quality. Past NHQ Award winners are among the most successful home-building companies in the country."
